Céline Dion is in everyone’s thoughts after she shared her latest health update.
In May, the 53-year-old Grammy-winning singer announced that she was returning to Las Vegas with a new show at The Theatre at Resorts World. Céline’s new residency was scheduled to have a total of 21 performances, and it would run from November through February. To kick off Céline’s new show, opening night was going to be dedicated to raising funds for COVID-19 relief. Now, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer is putting these plans on hold.
On Tuesday, Celine revealed in a press release posted on Instagram that while she was preparing for her new show, she began having “unforeseen medical symptoms” and it has “forced” her to delay the production.
“Céline has been experiencing severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing,” a statement from the press release read. “Her medical team continues to evaluate and treat her. However, the symptoms she is experiencing are prohibiting her from participating in the ongoing rehearsals for the new show.”
The mother of three reiterated her personal message in the caption, which read: “I’m heartbroken by this. My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and to not be able to open this November saddens me beyond words.
She continued: “I feel so bad that I'm letting them down, and I’m especially sorry for disappointing all the fans who’ve been making their plans to come to Las Vegas. Now, I have to focus on getting better … I want to get through this as soon as I can.”
After seeing Céline’s post, a few celebrities immediately reached out to her in the comments section wishing her the best in her recovery. “Sending you love and healing vibes,” wrote Katy Perry. “Get well soon. Hoping to see you in May ❤️ xxx,” added The Great British Bake Off finalist Laura Adlington. “All that matters is that you get better. x 💖,” commented singer Betta Lemme.
Fans of the “Because You Loved Me” vocalist also sent her their best and asked her to focus on herself right now. “Oh my god Celine pls take care! Don’t feel bad for canceling! We want to see you healthy pls, I love you so much ❤️,” one person wrote. “Take a break and take good care of yourself. We love you and can’t wait for your recovery,” another added. “Get well soon Celine. Take it easy. Your health is the most important thing. Anything else can wait. 🙏🙏,” a follower commented.
At the moment, Céline is still set to go on her world tour for her latest album Courage in March 2022, which has also experienced several delays. We hope to see her back on stage when she feels up to it.
