Chelsea Clinton Revealed How Her Friendship With Ivanka Trump Ended

"I don't want to be friends with someone like that."

Believe it or not, at one point in the history of the Manhattan elite, Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump were actually friends. Of course, after their parents Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton entered the 2016 election, the two ... parted ways.

Though in 2018, Chelsea confirmed to Stephen Colbert that she had not spoken to Ivanka "in a long time," last night on Watch What Happens Live!, she went into detail about what happened.

"Was there ever a moment during that campaign where you wanted to text her and be like, 'Hey, we're friends. This is insane, what your father is saying about my mom'?" Cohen asked her.

"We were in touch at the beginning of the campaign. But it's just really hard when there's someone who's actively embracing their candidate, whether it's their father or not, who is trafficking in racism and sexism and anti-Semitism and Islamophobia and homophobia and transphobia and conspiracy theories and lies and is so fundamentally corrupt," she explained. "At some point, I don't think they're the same by any standard, but I think she's more than complicit as anyone who has worked for him for so long by definition is. And I don't want to be friends with someone like that."

Ivanka may have been more involved with her father's campaign from the beginning than anyone even realized at the time. Just last week it was revealed in Rick Gates’s new book, Wicked Game: An Insider’s Story on How Trump Won, Mueller Failed and America Lost, that Ivanka was being floated as a VP choice. “During a VP discussion that included Jared and the other kids all assembled in one room, Trump said, ‘I think it should be Ivanka. What about Ivanka as my VP?’" Gates wrote.
