There is no arguing that when it comes to denim, the ingenuity we’ve seen over the generations has been impressive. Humans have discovered virtually every way to rock jeans, whether it be in the form of a jacket, shorts, or pants, frayed, ripped, stretchy, rigid, acid-washed, wide-legged, skinny, high-waisted, low-rise, or somewhere in between. The list goes on — there is denim for practically any occasion.
Things have just gotten a whole lot more interesting for denim-lovers, however, since the latest form stepped onto the scene: The criss-cross jean, as recently seen on “Lip Sync Battle” star, Chrissy Teigen.
As you may have predicted by its name, the asymmetric jean earned its label for its staple criss-cross waistband. Like most jeans, they come in all washes and fits, but in this case, Teigen opted for a loose-fitting, $190 pair by Agolde, matched with a black crop-top, a black, oversized blazer, and white, ankle-tie heels that she used to secure the hems of her jeans, giving them more of a jogger-esque look.

Cross-cross jeans first appeared on social media at the hands of DIY influencers. By sewing in an alternative button, you could resize your existing jeans, giving them a tighter waistline and avoid the dreaded gap (if you know, you know), but the method has since been adopted by the upper echelons in the fashion industry who have evidently evolved the look into a trend worthy of Teigen’s stamp of approval.
If you’re wondering where you can snag yourself a pair of criss-cross jeans at a more affordable cost, look no further. Keep scrolling to see our top picks.
