Months after a last-minute injury during rehearsals caused Christie Brinkley to pull out of Dancing With the Stars, the 65-year-old supermodel says that her injury is worse than she initially anticipated it to be. Brinkley, whose daughter, Sailor, took her spot on the ballroom dancing competition show after she broke two bones in her right arm, gave an update on her injury earlier this week to AOL.

"It’s doingOK. It was just a little bit worse than I thought it would be," Brinkley said. "It’s taken a lot longer [to heal] than I thought it would."

Brinkley's injury, which came just days before the season premiere of DWTS, stirred up some controversy after TV host Wendy Williams accused the whole situation of being faked. Williams theorized that Brinkley faked the injury so that her 21-year-old daughter Sailor, who works as a Sports Illustrated model, could go on the show and get more exposure.

Brinkley later took to Instagram to share a series of photos showing her bruised elbow and swollen wrist, dispelling any rumors of the injury not being real.

"It goes against my better judgement to acknowledge haters and conspiracy theorists but because this involves my precious daughter I’m setting the record straight," Christie wrote on Instagram. "It’s sad that we live in a time where the truth is not as scintillating as hurtful lies. If it was just me I would have let this roll right off my back, but on #nationaldaughtersday I feel it’s the perfect opportunity to stand up for truth."

Sailor, who jumped into the show with less than two days of rehearsal time, quickly became a fan favorite and made it to the sixth week of competition.

Now, after 11 weeks of her dominant hand being largely out of commission, Brinkley says that everyday tasks are still a bit of a struggle.

"The back of my head [is difficult to reach] because I also hurt my shoulder," Brinkley said. "So, if I’m trying to get back there, I have to try to do it with the left hand, but I can’t quite get the hair dryer and the brush… it’s very hard. Makeup with my left hand, though, I’ve actually gotten pretty good at!"
