Christine Quinn is opening up about her son's traumatic birth.
The "Selling Sunset" star and her husband, Christin Richard, welcomed their first child, Christian Georges Dumontet, in May 2021. Although the couple were overjoyed to become parents, Quinn recently revealed to her co-stars in a new episode of the Netflix series that things took a dangerous turn during labour.
According to Quinn, at one point during an emergency C-section doctors asked her husband to make a decision and choose between saving Quinn's life or their son's.
"Christian was absolutely freaking out. And then when we were doing the emergency C-section, my heart rate was going down, the baby's heart rate was going down," Quinn recalled. "And then one of the nurses went up to Christian and said, 'You need to make a priority right now. You have to choose one.'"
Quinn said that after being put on the spot, instead of choosing one or the other, her husband asked for both to be saved.
The reality star explained that her son's birth started to go awry when he started to come out "sideways" with "his umbilical cord wrapped around him" causing his heart rate to drop.
"I just remember before I went under the anesthesia, hearing the baby's heart rate was going down, and they were afraid it was going stop," she continued in the episode's confessional. "That's the last thing I heard… until I woke up. So it was a nightmare, it was literally a nightmare... We're thankful to say that all three of us were able to come home from the hospital, and we're just counting our blessings each and every day."
Quinn initially revealed hers and her son's near-death experience back in September in an interview with This Morning.
"I was flatlining, I learnt to be grateful for life. Time is so precious," she said at the time. "In the new season [of Selling Sunset] I am more vulnerable as I tell my story. I no longer interested in petty stuff in the office."
