Christopher Nolan is pushing harder than anyone to make sure that movie theatres re-open with his upcoming blockbuster Tenet.

IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond opened up about Nolan’s efforts during a recent interview with Variety, remarking, “Chris really would like to be coming out with the film that opens theaters. I don’t know anyone in America who is pushing harder to get the theatres re-opened and to get his movie released than Chris Nolan.”

Even though cinemas across the world are still closed because of the Coronavirus pandemic, Warner Bros have kept Tenet’s release date of July 17 for now. That looks more and more unfeasible with each passing day, but, according to Gelfond, the studio and IMAX are still preparing for the film to hit cinemas on this day.

“In the near term, we have incorporated a number of remote tools into our workflows and a range for select staff to have safe access to our post-production facilities so we can continue work on forthcoming titles like Tenet,” added Gelfond.

All of which makes sense, since Christopher Nolan has been one of the most vocal defenders of movie theaters over the last few years, as streaming services like Netflix and Amazon have convinced more and more viewers to stay home and watch films instead of going to see it on the big-screen.
