When states began enforcing stay-at-home orders in mid-March, How I Met Your Mother's Robin Scherbatsky probably got the heck out of dodge. At least that's what Cobie Smulders, the actress who played Scherbatsky for nine seasons, thinks.

"She probably would've gone back to Canada," Smulders tells Woman's Day, laughing. "She's probably living in a cabin and hunting and living off the land." Smulders' theory sounds about right to fans of the show, who know Scherbatsky to be an embodiment of the Great White Nort. Smulders pictures Scherbatsky at the family cabin in Northern Ontario, "hunkering down, fully isolated with no communication with anyone."

But what about the MacLaren's gang? How could she just silently slip away to the wilderness of America's upstairs neighbor? "The friend group would be like, 'What happened to Robin? Where'd she go?'" Smulders laughs. "And she's up in Northern Ontario hunting elk."

Maybe it's romanticized, but there's something about Smulders' imaginings for Scherbatsky that doesn't sound half bad. And though Smulders is sheltering in place with her family in Southern California instead of in her and Scherbatsky's shared homeland, she can see the appeal in becoming a bit of a homesteading recluse. "She's smart," Smulders says. "I wish I'd done that."
