Collaboration of the Week: Coach X Rodarte
Stop the press! What happens when the quintessentially American leather brand meets and falls in love with the cool indie girl from the West Coast? A romance between New York and LA, the mix of modern vs ethereal, a truck load of must-haves and a low bank balance for me!
Yes, Coach and Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy have teamed up on a special collection of ready-to-wear and bags for spring and it is exactly what you want it to look like. Slogan from Coach’s 1970s ads “This is A Coach Bag” got the Mulleavys treatment and appears on sweatshirt and T-shirts, Coach bags has Rodarte’s special appliqué techniques and leather dresses with the same embellishments.
Kate and Laura Mulleavy commented, “We love how Coach believes in American luxury and craftsmanship. We also love their incredible archive and the imaging of the brand over the years.” Vevers added, “Rodarte’s conceptual approach to American style was the perfect lens to reimagine nostalgic Coach pieces. The mash-up of influences resulted in a romantic cool collection that feels right for both houses.”
With Coach’s approach to craftsmanship and Rodarte’s young Hollywood meets eternal romantic goth feel, this is collection has the mood of a 70s-esque mood and the T-shirts with the vintage Coach ads and slogan is a guarantee must have! After all, the Rodarte sisters are the ones responsible for the gray sweatshirt with the logo ‘Radarte’ that the fashion crowd loves so much! Expect the Selena Gomez, Fanning sisters, Chloe Moretz and more to be seen in this collection come this weekend!
The Coach & Rodarte collection will cost between $295 to $1,900 and will be available April 12 at Coach.com and from April 14 at select Coach stores and specialty retailers worldwide.
