I have never worn a pair of sweatpants as cozy, comfortable and chic as Lou & Grey. In all my time working as a fashion editor, I’ve tried on expensive versions to super cheap ones, but they all pale in comparison to Lou & Grey’s Signaturesoft Plush Upstate Sweatpants.

To put it into perspective, as soon as I get home from work, I immediately slip into a pair of these (honestly, I wear them almost every day of the week). As soon as its buttery-soft texture graces my skin, I’m in heaven. I honestly can’t believe they’re not cashmere.

What gives them their buttery-soft texture?

Lou & Grey’s Signaturesoft fabric gives it an unreal plush, butter-like texture. It is made of 50 percent acrylic, 48 percent rayon and 2 percent spandex. Translation? The most comfortable sweatpants I’ve ever worn. One reviewer described them as a “a perfect, fluffy cloud.” Another dubbed them the “softest sweats I’ve ever owned.” One happy customer wrote in a review, “These sweatpants are like butter to the touch.”

Are they flattering?

Absolutely. They have a slim silhouette all around (no more saggy butts!) that tapers around the ankle. They’re not super thick nor bulky, which I’ve had problems with in the past. When I take them outdoors, I’ve styled them with a denim jacket, hoodie and my go-to Adidas Stan Smith sneakers — and I always feel stylish in them while traveling or just grocery shopping. Former sweatpants used to make me feel “sloppy.” Not anymore.

I bought these to wear on a few long flights I have coming up, and wanted something comfy, but socially acceptable to wear in public,” one satisfied shopper shares. “These are SO soft, I wish I had ordered more pairs when I did! Lightweight, soft, and comfy, I’ll definitely be looking for these to come back in stock on my size!”

For me, these sweatpants are so chic, you can even wear them to work — with the right styling. “They’re just structured enough to be able to wear them to my business casual office,” one reviewer wrote. “Pop on some cute flats and a slightly more structured top, and you’re good to go.”

How do they fit?

Personally, I think they run large so I recommend choosing one size down from your normal size. Overall, they have a relaxed fit, so they’re not super tight or baggy. I especially love that they have an adjustable drawstring and taper around the ankle to ensure the best fit no matter what size or height you are. As a petite person (I’m 5’2″), I have trouble finding sweatpants that fit my short frame. After all, I’m not about to take my sweatpants to the tailor! With these, I’ve found sweatpants that just instantly fit.

Are they worth the price?

Yes! I tend to think about it from a price-per-wear perspective. I know $70 seems like a lot to spend on sweatpants, but I’ve had mine (three pairs!) for three years now and they’re still in tip-top shape. Many wear sweatpants regularly, such as lounging around in them on weekend, and when you count wearing them while traveling and running errands in, they’re an investment well worth the price.
