Coronation Street praised by Snoop Dogg as he admits wanting role on ITV soap

Coronation Street appears to have an unlikely fan in US superstar Snoop Dogg.

Yup, the legendary rapper has admitted that he loves a bit of the cobbles drama as much as the rest of us, and has even pitched himself for a role.

“Coronation Street, I love it," Snoop told The Sun. "If they call me I’ll do it. I’ll play whenever they need.

"I love the cinematography, acting, the storylines and just the reality. I’d like to be part of it because they’ve been part of my culture.”

During the interview, Snoop also said he would love to perform at King Charles's upcoming coronation, saying: "I’m down to perform at the coronation. Make it happen.”

Could he hit two coronations with one stone?

Of course, the soap has been no stranger to huge star cameos in the past, with everyone from Sir Ian McKellen to Cheryl and even King Charles himself popping up. The Voice coach will.i.am also filmed a music video on the set.

In other news, Corrie has been snubbed by the BAFTA TV awards this week, despite being nominated for and winning the Soap & Continuing Drama award last year.

Instead, the shows up for the category this year are Casualty, EastEnders and Emmerdale, with the award winners set to be revealed in May 14.

Elsewhere, the soap is lining up an exit storyline for Paul Foreman, as the character is diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) next month.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
