Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Asha Alahan has been left shocked by girlfriend Nina Lucas's lies in Coronation Street.
Shona had come up with a plan to make Asha jealous by changing her name to 'Rob' in Nina's phone and then sending her flirty and supportive messages to make Asha realise what she risked ruining.
Asha finally did see the messages in the latest instalment, though Nina tried to brush the whole matter aside by admitting Shona had come up with the plan to make her jealous.
Nina tried to smooth things over with a bottle of wine and Asha's favourite meal, but her girlfriend admitted she was really "freaked out" by the lies.
"It kind of reminded me about the way you were after Seb passed," Asha explained.
Asha pointed out that Nina's recent possessive behaviour "feels similar" to the way she acted after experiencing trauma. Nina said she'd felt like she'd been pushed aside, then "the insecurity and the fear" followed.
"[The fear] of being alone. I'm not exactly the most sociable of people, am I?" Nina acknowledged.
When Asha mentioned that Nina had been out "loads" recently with her college friends, Nina admitted she'd made all of that up.
Asha angrily walked away from the conversation, as Nina grappled with the consequences of her lies. In spite of the couple's rough patch, cast member Mollie Gallagher has said she has hope for Asha and Nina.
"We need those obstacles to get past and I think this is the perfect one. Nina needs to fight for Asha – go girl," she told Inside Soap.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
