Cycling shorts are back with a little help from Kim Kardashian

When you think of cycling shorts, you probably don’t think fashion. However, the spandex item, once reserved for sport, is becoming a coveted fashion item this season.

The ever-influential Kim Kardashian, along with her hubby Kanye West, are at the forefront of the trend. It all started at Yeezy’s Season 4 show back in 2016, when West’s brand showcased skintight vests coupled with cycling shorts.

Although, it wasn’t enough to get us all jumping on the bandwagon, West’s wife Kim threw herself into the spandex trend and has been championing the look ever since.

From wearing them as a risqué evening outfit, to a chic day look, Kim has well and truly schooled us on how to style them over the past few months.

And for those of us who were hoping that this was just another ‘Kardashian’ trend – it’s reach has gone a lot further, even making it onto the SS18 catwalks.

Simple black cycling shorts were donned under an in-your-face rainbow number at Dolce & Gabbana. Meanwhile, Off-White went for a more minimalist look, seamlessly working the shorts into an all-white outfit, worn by none other than Naomi Campbell.

Kim’s not on her own. Bella Hadid has also given the spandex bottoms the seal of approval after being snapped wearing them during Paris Fashion Week.
