But first, it needs your help.

The only thing more exciting than your favorite fast food chain dropping new menu items is when one of your favorite treats returns after a long hiatus. Dairy Queen is known for its vast selection of frozen treats including its iconic Blizzards. Since the Blizzard's debut in 1985, the chain has created dozens of popular flavor combinations with mix-ins like candy, cheesecake, fudge, and more—but there simply isn’t enough space on the menu for all its grand creations.

Luckily, the chain keeps all of its 170+ Blizzard flavors in the DQ freezer for safekeeping. According to the website, it’s not your typical freezer, but a way to reconnect guests with their favorites from yesteryear. “It is an extraordinary freezer holding all of the DQ Blizzard Treat flavors of the past that are waiting to be re-released for all of our fans to enjoy.”

Now, the freezer doors are opening once again and Dairy Queen is reaching deep into the vault to bring back one of three popular Blizzards next year—and we get to decide which one.

How to Vote on Which Blizzard to Bring Back to Menus

Starting Dec. 9, fans will be able to vote and decide which previously released Blizzard will make its triumphant return in 2025. To vote, you’ll need to download the DQ app and sign up for the free rewards program.

Here are the three you can choose from:

  • S’mores: The S’mores Blizzard was first introduced in 2013 and quickly became a favorite. Dairy Queen CEO Troy Bader even admitted it’s his top choice, too. It’s no surprise because each spoonful is filled with signature soft serve, graham cracker pieces, marshmallows, and mini DQ imprinted marshmallow-filled chocolate bars.

  • Georgia Mud Fudge: Perfect for chocolate lovers, the Georgia Mud Fudge Blizzard combines the chain’s velvety fudge sauce with brownie chunks and pecan pieces into an indulgent frozen treat. The combo has been off menus for a while but desperate Redditors have been able to find success in modifying existing Blizzards to recreate the beloved treat.

  • Cappuccino Heath: This one is similar to the chain’s Heath Blizzard but with a coffee spin. According to a 2023 TikTok video, the Cappuccino Heath Blizzard is made with vanilla soft serve, a coffee base, and a generous scoop of Heath crumbles, offering a rich flavor with loads of crunchy toffee texture.

S'mores Blizzard Takes the Lead

In a recent Instagram post, Dairy Queen fans were eager to have their voices heard. While some mentioned favorites that aren’t in the running, there seems to be an overwhelming outpour in favor of one flavor. “S'MORESSSS WHY IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION," one fan wrote. S’mores, please. We’ve been patient,” added another.

Even those who work at the Minnesota-based chain are advocating for the return of the S’mores Blizzard. “As someone who works at DQ this should definitely be S’mores because we can make all the other Blizzards already because we already have the ingredients,” wrote the Instagrammer.

Be sure to cast your vote by Dec. 19 and check back on Dec. 20 when Dairy Queen announces the winner. We don’t yet know when exactly the returning flavor will grace menus but in the meantime, you can grab a Frozen Hot Chocolate or Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard before those seasonal menu items disappear.
