The cast of Dance Moms: Resurrection may look a little different than seasons past, and not just because most of the original team is gone. For the first time in eight seasons, Abby Lee Miller decided to shake things up a by adding a boy to the mix: Brady Farrar. The skilled ballet and contemporary dancer brings with him an impressive list of dance industry accolade, as well as a bit of Dance Mom drama. We’re placing our bets on Brady to be the next Maddie Ziegler — and here’s why.

Brady and his mother Tricia took a leap of faith by leaving their North Carolina home when Brady was young to pursue his dream of dance, embarking on a long and tough journey that eventually lead them to Dance Moms. “I realized dance is such a great art form. I feel like I owe it something,” Brady told Called Out when he was just 12. “I feel like I belong to dance. I kind of feel like I was meant to do this. I can’t really explain it, I have that urge inside me.” Brady revealed in his intro video for Lifetime that he first found dance as a creative outlet while his dad was deployed in the military.

Beginning at 6 years old, the precocious kid took to the dance competition scene where he was spotted by Angel Armas and Victor Smalley, owners and directors of Stars Dance Studio in Miami, Florida, where the short-lived Dance Moms: Miami spinoff took place. It was there that Brady turned from a young dreamer into an incredible technical dancer.

Now, Brady is regarded as one of the best young dancers in his age group. He’s earned both the mini male Best Dancer at The Dance Awards and Young Male Dancer of the Year at American Dance Awards along with being a national Mini Outstanding Dancer for the New York City Dance Alliance and making it to the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix New York Finals.

And, of course, he beat out hundreds of hopefuls to earn himself a spot on Abby Lee Miller’s coveted elite competition team for this season of Dance Moms.

We're just a few episodes in to the new season and Brady has already lead two of the group dances, both which have scored first-place scores for the team.

Brady’s age, experience, and sex might give him a leg up over the girls, but it also might give him extra pressure — and result in extra drama.

“Abby expects Brady to win every time,” Lily’s mom on the fourth episode of the season. She and the other moms also complained that Brady was getting handed things, instead of having to work for them. The result was an all-out war between the moms, and we’re betting it wasn't the last blowout of the season to revolve around Brady.

When asked who his favorite Dance Moms veteran was in a video, Brady answered, “Melissa (mom to Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler) because she had a similar situation to my mom. Maddie was a favorite and she got some clash from the other moms.”

Sounds like Brady might consider himself the next Maddie. We’ll be watching along this season to see if the jealousy from the other moms is warranted and if the drama continues. For now, there’s no denying that he is a talented young dancer who is bound to make waves.
