Dancing With the Stars pro Alan Bersten is still riding high after his recent season 28 win. The 25-year-old ballroom dancer and his celebrity partner, Bachelorette Hannah Brown, took home the prized Mirrorball trophy in November, and Bersten still can't quite wrap his head around it.

"Honestly I still can’t believe it, it’s a dream come true," Bersten told Woman's Day. "It’s just a shock."

Bersten and Brown came out on top after weeks of tough criticisms from the judges, with both Brown and fans of the show picking up on the fact that the judges were being much harder on her than the other contestants. Tensions culminated in an emotional confrontation between judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Brown during rehearsals that left both of the women in tears. Bur Bersten thinks their win proved the judges wrong.

"The judges saw something in Hannah that they wanted to get out of her and I feel like the did a good job in getting it out of her, and by the end of the season she was a completely different dancer from when she stared," Bersten said. "That’s the whole point of the show — the journey. You want to improve and she really improved and did an incredible job."

As for where he'll be keeping his sizable Mirrorball trophy, Bersten says he's created a special place for it at home.

"I built a little podium for it so I see it every day," Bersten said, adding "And we have one on tour and I might bring it out during the show every day."

Bersten is currently traveling for the national Dancing With the Stars tour, where Brown will join him for a few performances. As exciting as the tour is, Bersten is extremely excited for the next season of the competition show and is ready for any kind of celebrity partner to be sent his way.

"Dancing With the Stars has been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old, so the fact that I’m on the show and I’m a pro on the show and I just won the show, it is a dream come true and I want to continue living that dream every day that I can, so I very much look forward to the next season of Dancing With the Stars," Bersten said. "As for celebrities, I don’t really have a celebrity wish. I just want someone who wants to be there and enjoy it and go on a journey. You know I’ve been very lucky to have that in the past, so whoever I get I’ll be more than happy to be dancing with."

Season 29 of Dancing With the Stars is expected to air this fall.
