David Beckham and Kylian Mbappé Rocked Sharp Dior Tuxes at the Ballon D’Or Ceremony
Soccer’s biggest stars stepped off the pitch and onto the red carpet to attend one of the sport’s most esteemed events last night.
The 67th Ballon d’Or awards ceremony welcomed an A-list roster of athletes at the Théâtre Du Chatelet in Paris to honor the game’s top footballers. And though Lionel Messi won the prestigious best male player accolade for a record-breaking eighth time, one iconic presenter and a French soccer player managed to stand out in their own way.

Retired soccer legend David Beckham and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé both walked the red carpet in dashing Dior looks by Kim Jones. The former Manchester United midfielder was fashioned around a navy wool peak lapel oblique tux, which he rocked with a white shirt, navy silk tie, and black leather derbies. Mbappé’s look was similar, with both tuxes sporting just one button and silk lapels, but his get-up was crafted from a gray wool and finished off with a black shirt and tie.
Both gents paired their formalwear with high-end watches, too. Mbappé’s piece, a 44 mm Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium Diamonds timepiece, is all about the bling. The $27,300 wrist candy is crafted from a titanium case and features a bezel set with 126 diamonds that total 1.4 carats. It runs on the Swiss manufacturer’s HUB1280 self-winding chronograph flyback movement that gives the athlete a cool 72-hour power reserve.
Posh Spice’s husband, meanwhile, decided to sport less flashy timepiece by Tudor. The 39 mm timepiece, dubbed Pelagos 39, has a case made from grade 2 titanium with a satin finish. It houses a black sunray dial, next to a unidirectional rotating bezel with a matching sunray satin finish. The $4,700 watch runs on calibre MT5400, a self-winding movement with a bidirectional rotor system. It also provides Beckham with an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
The M.L.S. icon presented Messi with his Ballon d’Or that came with a bespoke trunk designed by Louis Vuitton. The former Barcelona captain didn’t miss out on the fashion fun, donning a single-breasted tux was designed by LV’s men’s creative director Pharrell Williams that he paired with a new 18-karat yellow-gold Tambour.
