Deadliest Catch fisherman Hank Todd was hoping to catch some crabs in the Bering Sea, but instead he caught a 1,200 pound block in the head.Todd is a deckhand on the Brenna A fishing vessel, captained by Sean Dwyer. The seas were particularly bad during the 2017 king crab season, when this episode was filmed. The 1,200 pound block is attached to the end of the crane and is used to pull up crabbing pots from the murky deep. Bad weather and large swells caused the boat to pitch suddenly, which caused the block to swing and smash the fisherman in the head. The vicious hit knocked the Todd to the ground several feet away. After the other deckhands helped him to his feet, Todd initially seemed a little woozy. But the rugged fisherman told his captain he was alright and he continued to fish. One of the deckhands said, "You know you're a tough crab fisherman when you get hit in the head, knocked all the way down, get right back up and keep working."
Deadliest Catch airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Discovery.
