Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just shade Liam Payne at the Commonwealth Day church service?

Nothing like a little royal shade to start off the week.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared to raise their eyebrows and giggle at a Commonwealth Day church service on Monday afternoon following former One Direction star Liam Payne's performance.

Payne performed a stripped-down version of John Mayer's "Waiting On the World to Change" at Westminster Abbey, where Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla and Queen Elizabeth herself were all in attendance.

After singing, Payne fist bumped his bandmates. When the camera switched to show the crowd applauding his rendition of the Mayer hit, Prince Harry looked at his fiancée with a raised eyebrow, to which she gave a look back before bowing her head to conceal her giggle.

It's unclear if they were really shading Payne's performance, but as the Daily Mail points out -- maybe they just like one of the other former members of One Direction a bit more than Liam? Harry made headlines last year when he met Harry Styles at a "Dunkirk" premiere, so maybe that's where his allegiance lies.

All joking aside, the outing marked a major milestone for Markle, as it was her first royal outing alongside Queen Elizabeth. Making it all the more notable, future sister-in-law Kate Middleton never attended an official royal engagement with the queen until after she married Prince William in 2011.

Meghan and Harry, of course, are scheduled to wed in May.
