Science says that dogs are one of the smartest animals in the world -- and each week, there are more and more stories that act as proof of their intelligence. Take Stella, for example, who was taught by her 26-year-old speech pathologist owner to communicate with a custom soundboard and now knows around 30 words.
However, we're not sure where this next story might land on the animal's intelligence scale.
On Thursday, one Florida pup became the subject of a police pursuit after he was spotted doing doughnuts in a cul-de-sac in Port. St. Lucie. The black labrador, who was the only one in the grey sedan at the time, was captured on video in the front seat of the running car.
According to reports, the dog jumped in his owner's running car, managed to put the vehicle in reverse and was spinning in backward circles for over an hour.
Neighbor Anne Sabol first thought the dog's joyride was the result of a student driver.
"First I thought I saw somebody backing up but then they kept going and I'm like OK what are they doing," she told reporters.
Local fire rescue and cops were able to stop the car when it slowed down after hitting a mailbox and trashcans on the street. The labrador jumped out after the cops opened the door and was unharmed.
