Dog Waits on the Curb for a Month After His Family Abandons Him During a Move

From Woman's Day

If the mere thought of living without your dog's loyalty and love is too heartbreaking to fathom, then the story of Boo the pit bull is about to shake you to the core.

After moving out of their home in Detroit, MI, one family left everything they didn't want on the curb. Among the discarded items? A mattress, furniture, a lampshade... and Boo, the family dog. Hoping his owners would come back for him, the depressed dog curled up on the discarded mattress and waited... and waited.

A month passed by, and Boo remained in the exact same spot, refusing to budge. According to Inside Edition, the owners came back once to pick up some things, but didn't take Boo. (We know, our hearts are hurting, too.)

Kind neighbors took notice of the homeless dog, leaving him food and water. Still, Boo refused to move, waiting for the owners who didn't want him to come back. Eventually, one neighbor reportedly took matters into his own hands, posting a photo of Boo on Facebook, asking for local shelters to come help.

Mike Diesel, founder of the Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue Center, saw the post and came to the rescue, but still, Boo didn't want to leave."He was just lying there, being his loyal self," Mike told The Dodo. Realizing it was going to take time for the heartbroken dog to trust him, he spent 11 hours with him that day. He returned a few hours later with a McDonald's meal for the pup, which did the trick.

After devouring his meal, Boo agreed to go with Mike, who continued doing everything he could to make sure Boo felt safe.

Boo, who is being treated for heartworms but is otherwise healthy, is waiting patiently for a new family to love him. So if you're ready to book a flight to Detroit to pick up the precious pooch, contact the Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue Center for more information.
