Double denim shorts are a thing and people seem to be into them

2018 has been the year of dodgy denim.

First came the utterly horrifying denim thong shorts, followed swiftly by lace-up jeans and the bizarre bum-rip jeans.

Denim shorts haven’t escaped a next gen makeover either with upside down jean shorts making a big impact online.

But just when you thought it was safe to slip back into your plain old skinny jeans another bonkers denim ‘trend’ starts going viral.

Step forward the double denim shorts.

Yep, because one pair of denim shorts may not be enough, a designer fashion brand has conjured up a design that makes you look like you’re wearing two pairs at once.

R13, a really quite high-end denim brand, has released a pair of denim shorts in time for summer, which come with an added extra.

Though they look like a perfectly normal pair of shorts from the front, the back is an entirely different story with what appears to be an extra pair stitched onto the rear.

The ‘double back’ shorts also come with an on-trend distressed hem at the front, and slightly longer length hem at the back.

While you might think getting two pairs of shorts for one could be a bargain, the double denim shorts will set you back an eye watering $565 (around £444).

But despite the luxe price tag, people seem to be digging them as many sizes are sold out online.

R13 is a luxury designer brand created by Chris Leba in 2009.

Before setting up his own Chris was the Vice President of Ralph Lauren before he decided to launch a clothing line of his own, so he certainly knows his stuff!

The unconventional shorts have been brought to the Internet’s notice after TV presenter James Corden featured the design during a recent segment of the “The Late Late Show”, Teen Vogue reported.

For those who’d like to try out the design but who are concerned about short wearing in the ailing British weather, the brand also sells the double-denim design in a full-length jeans option, so you can showcase the look all year round.

And remember double denim isn’t always a fashion no, no, last month we took some style lessons from the A-list on how to rock head-to-toe denim and not suck.
