Dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD, a.k.a. Dr. Pimple Popper, has popped some pretty gnarly cysts. Everything from face cysts filled with "corn" to a cyst filled with "green frosting." And in her latest Instagram video, she's taking on a dark brown "rotten egg" cyst that sits just below her patient's shoulder. Apparently it's not that unusually to have a brown cyst—but it was a bit abnormal to see one this dark an a lighter-skinned patient.

"Cysts come in ALL shapes, sizes, and colors (even green). Cysts are full of dead skin cells, so the color of them may reflect the patient's skin complexion depending on the level of melanin in their skin," she captioned the post. "I’ve seen stark white cysts from patients of all backgrounds, but have not seen a darker colored cyst from a patient with fare skin tone. #drpimplepopper #cyst," she captioned the post.

The video starts with Dr. P positioning her hands to squeeze out the cyst from the patient's already sliced skin.

"I was wondering if I could squeeze it out. We're all standing back...it's breaking a little bit," says Dr. P.

"Don't pop on us!" says the patient. She then asks Dr. P, "Wow! What is that?"

And Dr. P explains that it's just a run-of-the-mill cyst. "This is the sac wall, and all that's just the contents of the cyst. It's very thin-walled. All those pieces of skin...that's all skin trapped under there for years, finally released!" says Dr. P.

After the cyst surfaces, she grabs a pair of tweezers and scissors to snip it out of the patient's tissue.

"I'm so glad you're getting this done and over with!" says the patient to Dr. P.

Naturally, Dr. Pimple Popper's followers are fascinated, and compared the cyst to an egg-gone-bad.

"When it’s opening up it reminds me of the Alien eggs. 😳," one follower commented. And another wrote, "Looks like a rotten egg! 😮🔥👏".
