Drew Barrymore Shares Candid Eyebrow Photo: ‘How Did I Let It Get This Bad?’

Drew Barrymore is a self-described “beauty junkie,” but even she admits to not having stayed on top of her hair color or brow maintenance recently.

On Monday, the actress posted on Instagram a close-up photo of her face from the nose up, revealing some gray hairs as well as eyebrows in need of grooming. Then she referred to her Santa Clarita Diet character Sheila Hammond, writing: “#becomingsheila OH MY GOD How did I let it get this bad. Base and brows needed. Must become her. #santaclaritadiet here we go again. Season two.” Even zombies like Sheila, apparently, have better brows than Barrymore did as of yesterday.

Fans appreciated Barrymore’s candor. The post has had more than 94,000 likes and hundreds of comments calling the brow selfie (#browfie, actually) “refreshing” and “beautiful.”

Noted one commenter, “Glad to know I’m not the only one who needs to do brows. Sometimes ya gotta let them go!” Added others: “I was right there with you…a cut and color saved me the other day…” and “It’s like looking in a brow mirror this morning brow sister, love this pic and you!”

At least one comment gets right to the point: “Female maintenance is exhausting at times.”

Barrymore’s brows, in case she needs a reminder, weren’t always so bushy. Here she is all the way back in 1998 — with fellow ’90s queen Alicia Silverstone — accompanied by a teeny-tiny pair of bleached ones.

Barrymore may not have the time, but she certainly has the products, as evidenced by her recent sharing of social media photos showing off her vast array of makeup and skin care items — a hoarder’s worthy mountain comprising everything from her own brand of Flower products to dozens of other lipsticks and palettes.

“I am convinced if we take good care of ourselves, we will feel better and less distracted by our own funny insecurities,” she wrote. As for Barrymore herself, her trademark beauty style is naturally influenced and unafraid to be bare.

“I am the biggest lover of makeup on the planet, but I love taking off my makeup and having a fresh face and letting my skin breathe,” she told Into the Gloss.

The balanced philosophy is one that appears to resonate with fans. Because Barrymore claims her “happy place” is in bed, wearing a face mask and watching TV. Just like any other beauty lover.
