Early Saturday morning, the driver of a red Toyota sedan, who was not identified, was on the I-95 north express lanes taking the exit ramp to State Road 7, near Miami Gardens, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The driver collided into the concrete barrier wall, drove over it and then fell on the southbound lanes of I-95 beneath.
On the way down, the car hit the overhead road sign connected to the bridge — it will need extensive repairs.
When it landed on the southbound lanes, a gray BMW slammed into the Toyota, troopers said.
The driver of the Toyota suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
