Dua Lipa confirms this Alexa Chung-approved jacket is *so* back for AW24
There may still be a few more weeks left of summer (thankfully!) but dare we admit we've already started looking ahead and thinking about the season to come. Don't get us wrong, we're in no rush to pack away our summer dresses and swimwear anytime soon. Quite the opposite. We'll be living in our crochet tops, toting our beach bags and donning our Havaianas for as long as possible, til our toes risk turning blue.
But, without wishing away the sunshine, we are looking forward to embracing the new autumn winter fashion trends and giving our style a fresh update. Especially as some of our favourite celebrities have *already* confirmed next season's must-have jacket.
Yep, if there's one staple outerwear item you should look to invest in, make it a utilitarian workwear jacket with a contrasting collar. Preferably in a neutral beige, khaki green or brown colourway. For where to go to shop this style, well, no one does it better than Barbour.
Just ask Dua Lipa, who took to Instagram recently to share a mammoth photo dump (20 slides?!) with the first slide in the carousel a short video clip of herself in a Barbour jacket. Specifically, Barbour's Deck Waxed Jacket while on holiday in the British Isles.
Leaning into the country chic aesthetic, Dua paired the jacket with black wellies also from the brand and wore a faded blue cap on top of her red hair. She wore the jacket over a V-neck jumper layered over a button-down shirt and bike shorts for an ensemble that easily doubles as a cute festival outfit.
Alexa Chung is also known to be a Barbour fan, having previously collaborated with the British heritage brand. She teased her upcoming AW24 Barbour collection while at Glastonbury, wearing the Liam Wax Jacket over a floaty yellow dress.
For those looking to emulate this off-duty celeb-approved style ahead of the rest (after all, it's always jacket weather in the UK), we've rounded up our favourite Barbour waxed jackets, along with some more affordable high street designs that give a similar vibe. Including Aligne's Barnaby Reversible Wax Trench Coat with its contrasting collar and cuffs that was spotted all over Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Here's hoping we won't be wearing them for a little while yet, but we'll be ready when we need them. Happy shopping!
