From Town & Country

At this point, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge feels like a long-time friend. We've been with her through it all, from her Ugg-wearing college days to the birth of her adorable children. And over the course of our "friendship" together, we've learned one very important lesson about Kate's motherhood style: she seriously knows how to rock a killer pair of heels while running around with her children. And soon, she'll have another little one to add into the mix.

We can't wait.

Even though she's busy launching a mental health campaign and globe-trotting with Prince William, she's also a hands-on - and completely in tune - parent to Prince George and Princess Charlotte. "Every time we see Kate out with her children, it's apparent that they're always her priority," Patti Wood, body language expert and author of SNAP: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma told GoodHousekeeping.com.

For starters, her eyes are always locked on her kids. "Instead of paying attention to the cameras or reporters, Kate is communicating to her children that this moment is about their family more than anything," says Wood. "It's a way of creating a special memory despite the pomp and circumstance."

Kate also doesn't let the public stage affect her playful nature. She is a fun mom, after all. "Oftentimes, you'll catch Kate and William with big, toothy grins and open mouths. These contagious smiles indicate spontaneous joy," says Wood.

To catch a better glimpse at her children, she'll often lean back or bend down to their level. Her hope (or so we think) is to catch candid moments where her children are happy. This also gives her the ability to catch moments where her children might feel overwhelmed, anxious, or just plain tired. "She's constantly scanning to make sure they're okay," Blanca Cobb, body language expert and author of Methods of the Masters, told GoodHousekeeping.com."It's as if she's taking an emotional temperature reading to make sure that everything is alright."

Typically, Kate is holding at least one of her children. "What's notable is that Kate's hands are usually loosely wrapped around her children's legs," says Wood. This loose embrace indicates that she's trusting of her children and giving them the space to explore.

Truly, we've seen her do it all: she comforts, dances, plays, laughs, and hugs her children. Yes, these are common behaviors, but Woods points out that these behaviors are rather unusual for someone in the public eye. "Time and time again, Kate proves that her focus is on her children - not anyone else," says Wood. "She's never tugging at her children or walking ahead of them." Instead, Kate always treats her children as equals - and her husband does the same.

This photo says their family is a unified front. "Little things, like walking in the same plane (they're all on the red line!), show there's a balance of power between the couple," says Wood. By doing this, the couple gives their children the opportunity to view the world on a greater scale.

While Kate is known to be the head of the household (Prince William has said it himself), the couple is completely in tune with one another. "It's obvious that Kate, her husband, and her children are in sync because they reflect each other's facial expressions," says Cobb.

So, will anything change when the new baby comes along? We're guessing not.
