Since developing the cult-favourite Supersonic hairdryer, Dyson has continued to explore the science behind style and haircare to better understand what makes hair smooth and shiny, and what causes hair breakage and colour loss.
Today, Dyson announced it is launching its very first hair straightener. The Dyson Corrale comes with flexing plates - a first in the industry - that deliver enhanced styles with half the heat damage.
Unlike conventional straighteners, the unique flexing plates of the Dyson Corrale mould to gather and shape hair without creasing. It gives the user greater control over their hairstyles.
“Flat hair irons apply tension and heat only on the thickest part of the tress, the strands at the edges are not clamped, leaving them slack, unheated and leaving flyaways. It requires multiple passes on the same section of the hair tress to give an even look, by which time excess heat may have caused reduced strength and less gloss,” explains James Dyson, the brand’s founder and chief engineer.
“We have discovered that if the plates could conform to the precise profile of the tress, then with each pass we would apply the correct tension to all the hair strands. This means that we get an enhance style and without the excessive heat.”
The Dyson Corrale allows you to choose one of three heat settings (165 C, 185 C and 410 C) to suit your hair type and desired style. Much like the Dyson Supersonic and the Airwrap styler, this straightener is powered with Intelligent Heat Control, with which the temperature is measured 100 times a second.
This new styling innovation, suitable for all hair types, also features a four-cell lithium-ion battery to deliver cord-free performance, allowing even the busiest, one-the-go users to achieve salon-quality, smooth styles anywhere. It fully charges in just 70 minutes and provides up to 30 minutes of styling.
The Dyson Corrale is available now at Dyson Canada for a whopping $650 - a steep price to pay for a hair straightener, if you ask us. However, if you’ve been dealing with constant split ends and brittle texture from excessive heat damage and frequent colour appointments, this revolutionary styling tool just may be your saving grace.
