Now that I’ve been working from home for the past several weeks and my commute time has been completely eliminated, I’ve had to say goodbye to my daily walks to and from the subway station. Although my routine may have changed, I’m still making an effort to be outside every day, and one pair of sneakers has become a go-to for those times that I want to get walking.

Lately I’ve been wearing a pair of St. 1 Lite Sneakers from ECCO for all of my quick errands when I need to leave the house, whether it’s walking my dog around the neighbourhood or popping into the grocery store.

What are they?

Combining fashion-led design with technical innovation, these lightweight sneakers are a fun way to dress up your at-home style. Each pair of St. 1 Lite Sneakers is equipped with Fluidform direct comfort technology, all wrapped up in a brightly coloured package that’s perfect for the spring season. A lightweight sole provides cushioning, and Shock Thru points in every pair ensure shock absorption with every step.

Made with a perforated leather upper, these stylish sneakers feature a soft neoprene lining that fits like a sock, although I’ve still been wearing a thin sock for extra warmth, since my feet tend to get cold easily. Despite the leather construction, they’re super lightweight and provide lots of cushioning while I’m out and about.

I’ve been wearing the sporty St. 1 Lite style, but if you’re a fan of more classic running shoes, there’s also the St. 1 Sneakers, which feature contrasting leather and textile detailing for a more casual feel. There’s also the cut-out version of the St. 1 Lite Sneakers, which is perfect if you’re looking for a nontraditional shoe with all of the comfort that you’d expect from the athleisure style.

Each version comes in three versatile colourways, so no matter whether you’re into muted neutral shades or vibrant pops of colour, chances are there’s a sneaker that you’ll love.

The verdict

I chose to get the shoes in my usual size 39, which according to Ecco’s size guide is suitable for a size 8 to 8.5. I will say that they appear to have a good deal of room in the toes (which works great for me to slip in my custom insoles), but if you’re on the smaller end of the recommended size chart, I’d suggest ordering down one size.

Retailing for $230, they are on the pricier side for sneakers, but I’ve found that if you’re looking to invest in quality materials, you’ll be sure to get better longevity out of your clothing. If you’re on your feet frequently and you’re looking for something with a little more style than the average athletic running shoe that still offers all-day comfort, you may just want to check out Ecco’s newest spring styles below.
