Leave it to Alexander Wang to take something as banal as a plastic grocery bag and turn it into a high fashion item that costs $2,145. For his final collection for Balenciaga that was shown in October, the designer’s parade of all-white looks were accessorized with bags that were lace recreations of something that you’d get from the deli. Is this a posh reminder to do away with plastic? Perhaps, but one needn’t pay a small fortune to get the message. Alternative versions (at the more reasonable price of $9) can be found here.
