Peter Andre’s wife Emily MacDonagh has admitted that as a medical professional she feels uncomfortable about the full lifting of lockdown restrictions.

The NHS doctor has worked on the frontline throughout the coronavirus pandemic and said the rising levels of COVID infections in the UK has made her feel conflicted about 'Freedom Day', which went ahead on 19 July.

Dr Emily told The Mirror: "I think [Freedom Day] is a really difficult call and for me, with my medical background trying to look through the evidence and statistics and find it close to call.

"I feel like it's a balance about being sensible and that is what I will continue to do."

The 31-year-old mother-of-two - who married Mysterious Girl singer Andre, 48, in 2015 - had previously said she was not sure living in lockdown was helping in the fight against COVID-19.

But she now admitted she has learned to live with wearing masks and social distancing.

She said: "At the beginning [the coronavirus pandemic] felt a lot more unknown but with the vaccine roll out, it just feels slightly more like a safety blanket.

"Coming home from work now, I know I have had my vaccines which makes me feel more comfortable. It has been a strange and challenging year.

"It was such an unknown in the beginning but I feel we are much more in the swing of it with washing hands and social distancing.

"But I feel used to be going out with a mask and social distancing now."
