Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield Are (Ex) Relationship Goals at the Golden Globes
High-profile Hollywood ex’s Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield can’t help but run into each other on the awards circuit. But that doesn’t mean things have to get awkward. Oh no. Instead, the pair, who met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man, is setting a new standard for how to treat a former flame.
Last night, as a Valentino Haute Couture-clad Stone walked to the stage to accept her Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in La La Land, Garfield could be seen giving her a standing ovation, proving that little things like love and respect don’t have to end just because a romantic relationship does.
While Stone ascended the stage steps to give her heartwarming acceptance speech dedicated to people trying to achieve their dreams, cameras panning the crowd caught her famous ex, who was sitting front and center at the Hacksaw Ridge table, on his feet clapping proudly, at one point even emitting what looked to be an enthusiastic “woo” of appreciation. Considering that no one else at the actor’s table was standing (including Ryan Reynolds, the gentleman Garfield would later treat to a kiss), his enthusiastic response to Stone’s win was clearly not a result of peer pressure, but rather a genuine expression of appreciation for the ex-girlfriend with whom he’s previously said he would happily be stranded with on a desert island, even post-breakup.
Fans of the couple were, predictably, over the moon.

Is it wrong that I basically just want this awards season to be the mechanism that brings Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield back together? – J

No, Heather and Jessica, you’re not wrong. True love — at least in the form of true post-break-up friendship — really does exist. Sigh.
