Emma Thompson might care less about the royal wedding than you do

The upcoming wedding ceremony of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may be of keen interest to you. Or perhaps you’re already sick of hearing about it. Over and over. The good news? The brouhaha will pass this coming weekend, and royal news should slow down for another few decades until young George, Charlotte, and Louis — the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton — enter the dating world.

Or maybe, like British actor and director Emma Thompson, you’re just completely ambivalent. Zero feelings one way or the other.

“I have not a single thought in my head about it to share with you,” Thompson told cameras at the red carpet for a screening of her latest project, King Lear.

She told a reporter, “It doesn’t occur to me, actually; my son is getting married next year, so I am much more sort of dealing with that … but really I have nothing to say about it.”

Seems totally reasonable. Who wouldn’t be more caught up with their own child getting married?

However, the reporter pushed her and asked, “Really?”

That’s when it seemed like Thompson hit a wall. A wall that probably Meghan Markle has hit at this point.

“Stop it. Just stop it, OK?” she said. “Stop doing the ‘Let’s talk about the royal wedding.’”

She moved on, saying as she left, “Just give the poor kids a break.”

Frankly, if Rihanna isn’t invited, who can blame Thompson for not paying that much attention?
