Yahoo Style: Tell us about the collection and what we can expect from you.
Eva Longoria: I’m a big fan of this knit dress, and this comes in yellow and also comes in wine. This is our power knit — you can feel it; it’s really just delicious. I have a lot of dresses and tops with peplum and also belts because I like the waist to come in. I’m a jeans and blazer girl, so we have some great jeans. I like to call the line “from work to wine” because you can wear it to work and wear it out if you layer it! I wear all of this, and we also have some overlay pieces, some outerwear that you can wear over this in the office and take it off whenever you want to go out. The collection has a lot of graphic tees that have a lot of fun slogans on them like, “Wine a little”!

What’s with the wine slogan? And do you have a favorite wine?
I’m pretty obsessed with wine. Wine love, more wine, wine goals. I’m getting better with wine; I am obsessed with California cabernet sauvignon, not just because I live in California, but there’s just an amazing boldness to them. But I’m recently been drinking super Tuscans, so I’m exploring that one now as well.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given on how to dress for your shape, because you’re so petite?
Alter everything — it doesn’t cost a lot! Nothing off the rack can fit everybody, so a lot of the time I see a woman look at a dress and they try it it on and they say it’s too long and then they don’t buy it. But I tell them, no, no, you can hem it. And it’s, by the way, not very expensive at your local dry cleaners. It doesn’t cost a lot to alter your clothes. I alter everything because I’m so short.

Do you have any tricks or hacks you have picked up from shows or sets on dressing?
I alter everything! I mean, I alter T-shirts! I alter the sleeve, the shape of it, the v-neck — a costume designer taught me that trick. I remember some celebrity doing it, and I remember reading it in a magazine and I was like, “Oh, that’s why she always looks so good!”

Do you ever ask your friends for style advice?
No, I know what suits me and my shape. I am the authority on what to wear! My style motto is comfort, and so I need to be comfortable not only physically, but I need to know am I comfortable in this style. “Is it me?”

What is your favorite piece from the collection?
You know, I’m obsessed with this blazer/cape, but I’ve worn capes before that weren’t exactly comfortable. They look great, but you can’t lift up your arms and they’re not functional, so for me, I’ve got to feel good in my clothes. I love our power pantsuit and all of the dresses. What’s really great is that in fall, these dresses are all great transitional pieces. Then we have a lot of blouses and pencil skirts that will be great for fall as well. We have some great suits — we have a white suit, a black suit, and a gorgeous blue suit, which I think is fantastic. I love a woman in a suit.

What made you want to do a clothing line? What was the final push that made you partner with The Limited?
I’ve been waiting for a long time. I’ve sewn my whole life, and I’ve done my home line, but for clothing, I’ve always wanted to be involved. Before I was on Desperate Housewives, but this is a full-time job to be involved with. I know seams and construction. I’m involved with everything from the belt, the hemline, the shoulder to waist measurements, the buttons, to the hardware. I mean everything. I couldn’t have done it until now, and I’m glad I have the right partners at The Limited to do it.
