If you’ve read our past reviews, you know that we’re big fans of Everlane. The sustainable, ethical company is known for high-quality clothes and accessories with transparent pricing — and when it comes to footwear, we’re kind of obsessed (one of our editors has their Day Gloves in five colours).

Everlane has a plethora of highly-reviewed ankle boots — but the brand has never done a higher boot before. So last year, when we noticed their new Knee-High Boot on their Coming Soon page, we knew we had to try them out.

And while the boots retailed for $385 CAD when they debuted, they’re now knocked down to $269 as part of Everlane’s Summer Sale. But hurry — stock looks like it’s extremely limited, so you’ll have to move fast!

I’m a big fan of a knee-high boot, so when I saw this pair from Everlane I was super excited to try them out - especially after falling for the Editor Boot. I got them in black in my usual size 8.5, and when they arrived, I was surprised to find that for such tall boots they didn’t have a zipper and were instead made of a super soft leather that stretches to accommodate pulling them on. I was also expecting a more fitted silhouette, but after wearing them on several occasions I’ve come around to their effortless, slouchy vibe.

I’ve styled my pair of Knee-High Boots both over jeans and with a dress, and was impressed by how comfortable they were. Because the calf is quite wide, I could easily slip them on over straight-leg jeans, and their low 2” heel is ideal for a day at the office. There are a couple of features that I’d change if Everlane were to release another knee-high boot though, like the seam that runs down the entirety of the front of the boot (I’m personally not a fan) and I could do with a bit less room in the calf.

If you’re looking for boots that are comfortable yet stylish or you need a roomier fit through the calves, then I’d highly recommend Everlane’s Knee-High Boot. If, however, you’d rather a more fitted boot, you’ll want to pass on this pair.

I am a huge fan of both the Boss Boots and the Editor Boots (and yes, I’m the person with the five pairs of Day Gloves) — so I’m pretty clearly a fan of Everlane’s shoes. I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of knee-high boots since I saw my coworker Kate wearing a pair of suede ones from Anthropologie, but haven’t found a pair that speaks to me yet, so I was extra excited to try these out.

I got the cognac shade, which is a rich, warm brown. I was surprised by the softness of the leather — most boots this height I’ve considered buying have a more structured leather which helps them stay up. As slouchy boots are my nemesis, this was my first worry. However, they’ve maintained their structure over a few wears, both with pants and nylons, so no complaints there.

These are super comfortable. I took my usual Everlane size, which is a 7.5, and wore on a work trip to New York City which involved a lot of walking around. The cushioned sole made them ultra-wearable and the slightly-rounded toe made them effortlessly transition from day to night.

When we first received the boots, the pull tab on the back was a point of contention, but I’ve definitely come around on the style detail, and it actually does make putting them on a little bit easier.

Unlike Kate and Hilary, who both love a good knee-high boot, I’ve always tried to stay away from this classic trend. Don’t get it twisted — not that I haven’t given tall boots a chance, but as a petite woman, I’ve always had difficulty finding a pair that’s fitted enough to hold up on my legs and short enough to actually flatter my figure (of course, there are my Stuart Weitzman 50/50s that fit me perfectly, but let’s not get into how much they cost.).

But thanks to the now-trending slouchy boot look, I find myself surprisingly loving Everlane’s Knee-High Boot. While the soft leather finish naturally gives the look an effortless slouchy effect, it still manages to hold up its shape throughout the day. Rather than styling it with jeans, I find that pairing the boots with a midi-length skirt or dress gives it a more fashion-forward and polished look, perfect for day to night. With that said, I would say this boot is best suited for those who have an average calf size — they’re a lot slouchier on me compared to what I’ve seen on style bloggers and its no-zipper may not call for an easy-wear for some.

When it comes to fit, I would recommend going up a size. I have a very narrow foot and went half a size up (5.5) just to play it safe and I still found the rounded-toe to be a little bit tight. The thing I love most about these boots are its wearable 2” heel.

Knee-high boots are somewhat out of my comfort zone. As someone who’s a little insecure about their thighs, I try to choose pants and footwear that will elongate the look of my leg. I’ve always worried that tall boots, unless styled correctly would cut me off, and really highlight the areas that I’m not the most comfortable with.

Normally, I wear a size 7.5 shoe, but chose an 8 to be cautious. When the boots arrived, they felt a little snug (without socks on) and worried they would be a no-go. Luckily, they did expand a little bit and after trying on Kate’s 8.5 I feel like they would have been too big on me. The female equivalent of Johnny Cash, I chose to pair my Knee High Boots in black with an all black ensemble. I really liked the look of the black on black, and think the outfit is instantly dressed up thanks to the thick heel which makes these boots very comfortable to wear all day long.

I’m not sure if I’ll try and broaden my horizons by wearing the boots with jeans or different coloured pants, but I’m very happy that I tried something different but still managed to make it my own. Nothing but happy feet over here!
