'We're going organic': Everlane just made a huge pledge about their cotton

Fans of the popular brand Everlane already know that the retailer is committed to eco-conscious and sustainable practices, but their latest announcement is a total gamechanger.
“Our planet needs us to make some big changes—and fast,” says the Everlane website.
As part of their ongoing initiative to create cleaner clothing that’s better for the environment and for workers, all of Everlane’s cotton will be certified organic by 2023 — starting with an organic cotton T-shirt launching later this month.
“Worldwide, cotton farming uses more toxic pesticides per acre than any other crop,” the website explains. “Those chemicals are stripping the land of nutrients, contaminating our water, and endangering the people who grow the cotton.”
To fix these dangerous practices, Everlane is committed to the highest standards.
“Our organic cotton is grown and milled in the Madhya Pradesh region of India. The finished product is super-high-quality fabric—without all the toxic chemicals. And it’s certified organic by GOTS, the most stringent organic-textile certification in the world.”
