Royal fans are loving a new photo of Kate Middleton, caught off-duty, whilst working hard on a very special project – in fact, it's a major personal milestone for both her and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall (who is married to Prince Charles, Kate's father-in-law).

Newly announced today, the Duchess of Cornwall has taken on the role of guest editor for Country Life magazine's 125th anniversary, and a photograph of her looking resplendent in blue adorns the issue's front cover. Given it's such a momentous occasion, Camilla likely could've requested any photographer of her choosing, but instead she opted to keep things close to home and had Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge take the front cover snap instead. Something Kate has had plenty of practice in (she's now responsible for many annual portraits of her children and husband).

Speaking about the special coming together of royals, Mark Hedges, editor-in-chief of Country Life, said: "We are thrilled to have our guest editor captured so magnificently by royal photographer the Duchess of Cambridge.

"We understand this is the first time a formal portrait of the Duchess of Cornwall has been taken by the Duchess of Cambridge for a magazine and we are honoured to have been chosen to be the first to publish this beautiful photograph. The photographs are superb and we would be delighted to offer the Duchess of Cambridge another commission!"

Over on the Clarence House Instagram account, which acts as an official source of news and social media for all things Charles and Camilla-related, a series of images were shared included the magazine cover itself, the portrait of Camilla featured and a sneak behind-the-scenes look at Kate in action as a photographer (swipe along on the above post to see!).

The post was captured: "In celebration of The Duchess of Cornwall’s upcoming 75th birthday and the magazine’s 125th anniversary, Her Royal Highness has guest edited a special commemorative edition of @CountryLifeMagazine, to be published on Wednesday 13th July.

"📸 Commissioned by The Duchess of Cornwall as guest editor, Her Royal Highness invited The Duchess of Cambridge to capture the cover image at her home in Wiltshire, Raymill. ⬅️ Behind-the-scenes picture by Shona Williams, The Duchess of Cornwall's country dresser."
