Wedding bells are ringing for Chris Pratt!
The 39-year-old actor announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Katherine Schwarzenegger, early Monday morning on Instagram.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star shared a sweet photo of himself and his new fiancée with the caption, “Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
The pair began dating less than a year ago after they were reportedly introduced by Schwarzenegger’s mother, author and philanthropist, Maria Shriver.
Pratt and 29-year-old Schwarzenegger became very serious very quickly and were spotted around Los Angeles with the actor’s 6-year-old son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Anna Farris.
Farris and Pratt were married for eight years before calling it quits in 2017, but have remained on good terms to co-parent their son. After announcing his engagement, Farris took to social media to wish the pair well writing, “I’m so happy for you both!! Congratulations!”
So who is Chris Pratt’s new fiancé, Katherine Schwarzenegger? Well, her famous last name makes it pretty obvious.
As the eldest child of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the California native has ties to one of the most famous families in American history. Shriver’s mother and Schwarzenegger’s grandmother was Eunice Kennedy, former President John F. Kennedy’s younger sister.
After graduating from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California in 2012, Schwarzenegger began building her own empire.
In her early 20s, Schwarzenegger wrote her first book, “Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back” and began her lifestyle blog “Katherine: Lifestyle on your terms.”
In 2014, she released her second book “I Just Graduated…Now What? Honest Answers from Those Who Have Been There,” a guide for young people that features advice from celebrities such as John Legend, Eva Longoria and Meghan McCain.
Schwarzenegger’s latest work, “Maverick and Me,” is a children’s book named after her dog, Maverick, that teaches young children about second chances and adopting animals. As an ambassador for the ASPCA, she frequently uses her online following to showcase animals from local shelters and help them find homes.
Shared religious values
According to insiders, Pratt and his bride-to-be bonded over their shared faith. Raised Catholic, Schwarzenegger has reportedly been attending non-denominational Christian churches in California for a few years.
Last summer, a source close to the pair dished on the relationship saying, “They have the same outlook on the world, and their faith ties them together. He’s really impressed that she’s vocal and unashamed about her beliefs in God, because that’s how he is. He’s constantly around other people who have no faith or are apologetic about it, but not her. She is willing to talk about it to anyone who will listen.”
