Apple lovers recently got their update and now it's Android's turn. Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S9 could be unveiled before we know it and fans are scouring the internet to find out as much information as they can before the big unveil. But, can we trust that the rumors are true? Our experts in the Media & Tech Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute say it's likely that they are.

"Rumors are often based on a combination of patents and sources. So, while many of these features are unconfirmed, they seem to be logical next steps to a new version of the Samsung Galaxy," explained Selina Tedesco, a Product Testing Analyst.

So, while they're not exactly facts, here are some speculations of the new iteration that we are most excited about.

It could be here as soon as February.

According to CNET, the president of Samsung's mobile division announced that the Galaxy S9 will be unveiled next month at Mobile World Congress, which runs from February 26 to March 1. Experts expect it to go on sale shortly after that.

Experts don't think the price will rise much.

Tech Radar estimates that because it's unlikely that there will be massive design changes, the new Galaxy will cost about the same as its predecessor, which starts at $725.

There are rumors of a water-repellent coating.

Instead of just being able to survive water, it looks like Samsung's new technology may actually repel liquid. The speculation is based on the news that Samsung exclusively licensed a type of glass in 2016 that allows water to literally bounce off. This would solve the problem of our touch screens going totally wonky in the rain.

It'll look a lot like the S8.

Rendered images of the new phone from 91Mobiles show features that are similar to the Galaxy S8, like a curved glass back and tiny bezels. The main difference: the fingerprint scanner on the back is rumored to have been moved to just below the camera lens.

The headphone jack is likely staying put.

These renderings also show the 3.5mm headphone port is still in place. "We are not seeing this headphone jack remaining on a lot of new phone models," explained Tedesco. "It gives consumers an additional option for listening (that doesn't involve carrying around an adapter or depending on Bluetooth headphones) that they may not get from other new phone models."

The phone will likely have a dual-lens camera.

If you look closely, you'll also notice only a single lens on the camera rather than two. This adds to speculation that the Samsung Galaxy may have a dual lens camera, meaning better selfies could be in your future.

Samsung may introduce a more advanced Face ID.

Just like the iPhone X, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will also adopt facial recognition in their new model. Rumors say that Samsung plans to introduce a 3D image mapping sensor that will scan your face from all angles rather than just the front like Apple's Face ID.
