Selma Blair isn’t letting multiple sclerosis stop her from spending her summer poolside.
The 47-year-old actress took to Instagram to give thanks for a Sunday afternoon spent enjoying the warm weather, while undergoing treatment for MS.
“Sunday. Thank you,” Blair captioned a photo of herself sitting cross legged in a red Eres asymmetrical two-piece, showing off her newly shorn bald head. “And thank you Jemma Sands for my bracelets and rings. Summer staple. And my always favourite Eres bikini. Happy mom. Hugs to you all.”
The moment of rest and relaxation comes after Blair shared with fans she had been receiving intense treatment for MS, away from her California home and her eight-year-old son, Arthur.
Fans rallied around Blair, who is immunocompromised as part of her recovery, and has been wrestling with insomnia and chronic pain.
“Looking like the glam warrior you are,” “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo wrote to Blair. “Superhero.”
“Strong goddess,” added model Amber Valetta commented, while Kimberly Williams Paisley said “Your light and authenticity shine bright.”
Others thanked Blair for continuing to share her struggles and educate the public on the reality of living with chronic illness.
“This is what a role model looks like,” one follower wrote. “For the thousands who have no voice, no way of publicizing their chronic, silent illnesses, you give a face to. These silent illnesses can happen to anyone. Thank you for doing that!”
Blair is embracing her new bald look, even cracking a joke after designer Jemma Sands shared the photo of Blair modelling her designs on Instagram.
“True beauty inside and out, Selma Blair,” Sands wrote. “Looking like the gorgeous warrior goddess superwoman she is and layering all kinds of love and healing energy in our favourite gemstone rings and beads.”
“I love them,” Blair wrote. “Perfect bracelets for a little Buddha.”
