Fans of The Masked Singer were counting down the days until Group B started performing — as well as putting on their detective caps to identify the masked celebrities taking the stage. The Frog got Group B started, and fans already have so many guesses about his identity.
Before his performance, there were few clues to go on. The Frog only appeared in a photo on Instagram ahead of his debut. But despite the limited information, fans of the part mystery, part singing competition had guesses early on as to who is The Frog on season 3 of The Masked Singer.
So who is the Frog?
Before he performed, fans guessed based on costume alone. Some thought he was comedian Seth MacFarlane, who has been known to croon a tune or two. The costume choice could be a tribute to Kermit the Frog, a character MacFarlane as been known to impersonate from time to time.
But after the Frog performed MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This," and the clue package played, nearly all the fans had one guess.
Theory 1: Bow Wow
A ton of the video clues seem to line up with rapper Bow Wow. The 1996 Olympics poster could have been referencing Atlanta where Bow Wow lives. And the 106 dollars shown could be a reference to 106 & Park, a show Bow Wow hosted. Plus one of the Feb. 26 clues was a basketball, which could be a reference to Bow Wow's basketball movie Like Mike. As for all the Prince references, it could be pointing to Bow Wow's single "Prince of Darkness." Plus, fans think the voice gave it all away.
So who else knew the frog was Bow Wow as soon as they saw $106 as in 106 and park #MaskedSinger— Keke Martin (@kmart1908) February 20, 2020
But there was a March 4 clue that hinted at Bow Wow. Frog gifted guest judge T-Pain a friendship bracelet that read "All We Do Is Win." Though neither lent their vocals to the 2012, the duo did collaborate on another 2012 hit, "Better."
Theory 2: Alfonso Ribeiro
A new guess emerged from the judging panel and fans alike on Feb. 26. Jenny McCarthy thought that the Frog's dance moves and repeated "prince" clues may have been pointing to Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro. The previous 1996 clue could be pointing at how Fresh Prince ended in 1996. And the $19 clue could have been a reference to Ribeiro winning season 19 of Dancing with the Stars. Also what sounds do frogs make? "Ribbit," which sounds a lot like Ribeiro.
My whole family thinks that the frog is either Alfonso Ribero #MaskedSinger— Kay Walker (@kaykay31803) February 27, 2020
But the bracelet could also hint to Ribeiro. Both T-Pain and Ribeiro have "won" reality competitions — T-Pain won the first season of The Masked Singer and Ribeiro won Dancing With the Stars in 2014.
Theory 3: Omarion
Robin Thicke guessed the former boy bander during the April 1 episode, and we have to say it makes sense. In the pre-performance package for that night, the Frog mentioned having to maintain a squeaky clean image early in his career, and likes that he's able to be himself. As Thicke pointed out, Omarion was a member of B2K and may have been required to stick to a certain public person.
Additionally, the Frog revealed a knight as his secret clue. Omarion had a song called "Last Night." A deep cut, yes, but a good one.
Fans will have to wait to see who the Frog is when he's finally unmasked, but there are already a lot of good theories cooking here.
