In a festive but brutal semi-finals, fan-favorite Thingamajig was eliminated from The Masked Singer. Although fans and judges were sad to see the furry creature go, they were excited to figure out who was hiding beneath the mask. Fans had long guessed at one person who could be behind the plaid-clad Thingamajig, and it turns out they were right.

Who Is the Thingamajig on The Masked Singer?

Thingamajig's performances sounded nothing short of an award-winning professional singer. So the judges were a bit shocked to learn that the soulful voice belonged to NBA star Victor Oladipo.

The only thing more shocking than Thingamajig's identity, which we'll discuss shortly, was the fact that judge Ken Jeong correctly guessed Oladipo during the Dec. 11 episode.

Even his fellow judges, Thingamajig's crush, Nicole Scherzinger and singer Robin Thicke, were surprised by Ken's correct guess.

Here's the thing — Jeong is notorious for being wrong. But, like the fans, he used the clues to come to the correct conclusion. Granted, he arrived there later than us, but he got there eventually.

The (fairly obvious) clues to Thingamajig's identity were revealed early in the season. In the premiere, he said he was not known for his singing, saying “I’m here because I love to sing, though you may think that’s not my thing.” The video then shows Thingamajig with a pair of basketball sneakers, as well as a cupcake with the number four — Oladipo's jersey number.

Another compelling fact is that Oladipo has been known to belt out a song from time to time. Back in 2017, the Pacers point guard posted a video of himself singing another soulful tune, "Song For You," and the silky-smooth voices sound extremely similar.

Some of the jusges have gone athlete route, with Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, and Nicole Scherzinger guessing other NBA stars. But it wasn't until the Thingamajig's Dec. 11 performance that Ken Jeong guessed Oladipo for the first time.

Then there were the physical clues. The first was a book on American Sign Language, which Thingamajig said "taught him home to communicate with others, which is the most important thingamajig of all." Many Twitter users pointed out that Oladipo learned ASL because his older sister is deaf.

The Dec. 4 episode delivered even more clues pointing Oladipo's direction, like he was from Maryland and had recently suffered a setback. According to the Washington Post, Oladipo was born and raised in Maryland and in January he suffered a major knee injury that hurt his NBA season. Another clue was that he said something about a "second pick" in his clue video, and that's the spot Oladipo was drafted at for the NBA.

On Dec. 10, the Thingamajig dropped another Maryland clue and also mentioned campaigning for MVP — which is an NBA prize that recognizes the year's Most Valuable Player. Last year, Oladipo was in serious contention for the honor. Then the Dec. 11 episode showed a knee brace, seemingly in a reference to Oladipo's knee injury. This is actually what inspired him to compete on the show.

"It has been a rough year for me," Oladipo said in a post-elimination interview. "But to be able to come out here an put smiles on people’s faces and just do something fun for once and get away from the game for a bit has been nothing but a blessing for me."

We will miss Oladipo, but hope this isn't the last time we get to hear him sing. And, who knows, maybe the flirting between him and Scherzinger will turn into something more.
