Father flies on Christmas Day to keep cabin crew daughter company

A father spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day flying across the US so his flight attendant daughter didn’t have to spend the holiday alone.

Pierce Vaughan, from Michigan, works as cabin crew for Delta Airlines.

Her father, Hal Vaughan, flew on each of her flights on 24 and 25 December so she could still spend the festive period with her family.

Passenger Mike Levy, from Ohio, was sitting next to Hal on Delta Airlines flight DL2494 from Fort Myers, Florida, to Detroit on Christmas Eve.

His touching Facebook update went viral, with 138,000 reactions.

“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!”

“I thought that it was extremely special of him to do for his daughter, so that she didn’t have to spend Christmas Eve alone,” Levy told ABC News.

Cabin crew Pierce later shared Levy’s post, adding that her father was even upgraded to first class on the leg from Fort Myers to Detroit.

“Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle). Shoutout to Mike Levy for being a great first class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this actually is!”
