An all-female team just broke an Antarctic record
After just 62 days on the ice, six women from the British army have become the largest group to ski across Antarctica.
Dubbed 'The Ice Maidens' the team faced winds of 60mph and freezing temperatures of -40C.
Major Nics Wetherill, of the Royal Army Medical Corps in Portsmouth, who led the team said "This journey has had good times, bad times and great times for all concerned, and each of them, I know, has made us better people...I'm just so incredibly proud of the team. I can't believe how far we've come."
The other members of the team were Major Nat Taylor, Major Sandy Hennis, Captain Zanna Baker, Lieutenant Jenni Stephenson, and Lance Sargeant Sophie Montagne.
All six set out with the aim of inspiring women of "all ages and abilities".
With each woman pulling 80kg, the expedition – which began on 20 November – was expected to take between 70 and 90 days. Clearly, not 62. Congratulations ladies.
