Chipotle Mexican Grill has an opening date for their new location on the Mississippi Coast.

The company confirmed the D’Iberville restaurant is scheduled to open Wednesday, May 17.

The first Chipotle in South Mississippi is at 3990 Promenade Pkwy and will feature the brand’s signature Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane that allows customers to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars, the company said.

Located in front of the new Hobby Lobby at One Promenade, this new restaurant is built to the newest prototype, said Joe Pegram, a partner in Streamline Development Partners.

Instead of ordering off the menu board in a traditional drive-thru lane, customers order on the Chipotle app and drive thru to pick up their food. The restaurant also will have dine-in and delivery.

Chipotle is known for its fresh and natural ingredients without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. There are no freezers, can openers or shortcuts, the company says, and all 53 ingredients are listed on the Chipotle website.

D’Iberville City Manager Bobby Weaver said he expects a crowd when the restaurant opens, as people line up to get their first taste of Chipolte on the Coast.

The large menu features burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salads, plus their famed guacamole and queso.
