This firefighter proposed to his girlfriend and her 2-year-old in the most adorable way possible

A Wisconsin firefighter won the world’s heart when he proposed to his girlfriend of two years Thursday evening. Matt Poliak presented not one but two rings when popping the question. But that’s because he had two people to ask.

The firefighter with the Menomonie Fire Department was walking in their magical Winter Daze Parade and his girlfriend, Grace Johnson, and her daughter, Isla, were in the crowd. The parade came to a stop and Isla ran out to greet Matt. Grace followed. That’s when he got down on one knee in front of his decked-out fire truck and presented a ring to Grace, asking for her hand in marriage. The crowd went wild as she said yes. But the excitement didn’t end there. Matt had another woman to win over —Grace’s adorable 2-year-old daughter. He got down on one knee again and whipped out another ring, presenting it to Isla, who couldn’t say no to what Fox says was another diamond. She’s one lucky girl.

Lucky for us, Matt’s sister captured the whole thing on video, which she shared on Facebook. The video got picked up by multiple news outlets, and it has now amassed almost a half million views. It even got a spot on the Today show’s Morning Boost with Hoda Kotb.

We love a guy who acknowledges the importance of family during a proposal, like Michigan man Kevin Hatline, who did the same thing when proposing to his girlfriend, Elizabeth. After a surprise proposal in front of a crowd of hundreds, Kevin turned to Elizabeth’s daughter, Madeleine. “He asked her how she felt about us getting married, and then he got down on one knee and asked if he could be her forever ‘daddy,’” Elizabeth told Yahoo Beauty. During the actual wedding, Kevin got down on one knee and placed a silver heart-shaped necklace that read “I may not have given you life, but life has given me you” around the girl’s neck.

Will Eaton of Santa Claus, Ind., proposed to 23-year-old Ashley Schaus during an annual family photo shoot, but he first asked her 15-year-old sister, Hannah, to be his “Best Friend Forever.” Hannah, who has Down syndrome and diabetes, “will always need to be in her older sister Ashley’s care,” a USA Today story noted. At the wedding, Will and Hannah shared best friend vows, USA Today reported, and a first dance to “Best Friend” by Harry Nilsson during the reception. “Weddings aren’t all about love and lust and everything. It’s about bringing two families together. I’m bringing Hannah as my family into this.”

It seems Matt feels the same way.
