As a 29-year-old that’s constantly struggled with adult acne as well as unappealing dry skin patches (sigh), I’m always on the lookout for products that are healing, as well as moisturizing.

In my Ipsy box this month I received a mini verson of First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Oat & Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil. I’m a huge fan of the brand (I own three of their Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration Mini’s) and so I was excited to see the serum as part of my monthly superscription.

According to the Sephora website, the serum is an emollient oil derived from hemp that is rich in omegas to help calm, soothe, and relieve distressed skin.

One of the obviously eye-catching features of the product is that it’s infused with cannabis sativa seed oil (totally non-psychoative), which is not something I’ve tried before in a beauty product.

The directions say to apply two to three drops into palms and press onto face after cleansing and then optionally follow up with a moisturizer. I decided to try it without moisturizer to see how the product works on it’s own and I was pleasantly surprised.

Some serums leave a greasy residue after application but this fully absorbed into my skin after about 10 seconds. While I didn’t see any noticeable difference after using it twice on the first day, when I went to wash my face on the second morning I noticed the redness in my nose had calmed down and some dry skin that I had around acne spots were no longer flaky.

I also had a gross patch of super dry skin on my elbow that just would not go away, even with fancy moisturizers, but after a few drops of the serum it cleared right up.

With 10,000 “loves” on the Sephora website and an impressive 4.4/5 stars, the serum lives up to the hype and 86 per cent of users said they would recommend it.

“I have rosacea (splotchy redness) on my cheeks and after using this for a week my skin looks amazing!!!” raved one happy customer. “It’s even and the redness is mostly gone and my face is one even tone. I highly recommend this product!”

Perfect remedy for dry winter skin! I’ve tried a number of serums and cream many of which were very expensive but First Aid’s has been by far the best,” wrote another. “Great under makeup, I’ve also mixed it with my foundation with great results. It has worked in relieving eczema on my body. It’s smells fresh but not overly feminine my boyfriend has also been using it and loves it. Cant say enough good things.”

“This product has been a game changer for my face!” said another customer. “I use this day and night after my toner before my moisturizer and it has transformed my face. Dark spots had faded and I have experienced fewer breakouts using this oil.”
