Florence Pugh Channels Anti-Bridal Energy in a transparent Lacy White Gown
Florence Pugh added some edge to what could've otherwise been a traditional bridal look.
The Don't Worry Darling star's penchant for transparent and see-through clothing made a grand entrance at Elle's 2023 Style Awards in London today. At the event, she opted to wear an ivory mesh halterneck gown by Harris Reed, featuring delicate floral lace appliqués all over, a high neckline, an open back, and a lace-trimmed train. She let the statement dress do most of the talking, accessorizing sparingly by simply pairing it with pearl drop earrings and a gold septum ring.
As for the actor's glam, her typical beach-blonde-with-dark-roots pixie cut was casually slicked up and back (reminiscent of Miu Miu models' frazzled just-got-out-of-bed hairdo on the Fall 2023 runway). For her “something blue,” Pugh sported a midnight-blue manicure.
Pugh's go-to red-carpet wardrobe usually leans toward naked dressing. She first became known for her love of transparent clothing when she sat front row at Valentino's Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023 show in a now viral hot-pink see-through gown last July.
She reflected on the controversial look for Harper's Bazaar's September 2022 cover story. “I was comfortable with my small breasts,” she said. “And showing them like that—it aggravated [people] that I was comfortable.... It was just alarming, how perturbed they were. They were so angry that I was confident, and they wanted to let me know that they would never wank over me. Well, don’t.”
