Florence Pugh Is Striking in a Black See-Through Gown With a Tie-Front Bodice

Florence Pugh has reclaimed her throne as the queen of transparent red-carpet dressing.

Last night, the Don’t Worry Darling star arrived at the BoF 500 gala in Paris wearing a bewitching dress that combined her penchants for see-through clothing and unique silhouettes. Her black Valentino gown was comprised of a plunging halter bodice—made of strips of fabric that evoked a swimsuit top and were held together with a large bow tie at the front—and a dramatic full skirt of gathered, gauzy fabric that ended in a long train. While the dress was nearly opaque as Pugh stood still, the thinness of the material was revealed as the actor twirled the layers of fabric.

She styled the gown with black platform heels and accessorized with a gold pendant necklace adorned with diamonds by Tiffany & Co., an assortment of rings, and her gold septum piercing. Her short platinum hair was slicked back away from her face with a slight finger wave, and her natural makeup look included a smoky eye and a pale pink lip.

Pugh is known for making fashion statements via bold, transparent clothing, following her viral appearance at Valentino’s 2022 couture show, when she showed up in a daring hot-pink tulle gown with a completely see-through bodice. Pugh reflected on the controversy the outfit ignited in Harper’s Bazaar’s September 2022 cover story.

“I was comfortable with my small breasts,” she said at the time. “And showing them like that—it aggravated [people] that I was comfortable. … It was just alarming, how perturbed they were. They were so angry that I was confident, and they wanted to let me know that they would never wank over me. Well, don’t.”
