These four Kansas City Chiefs players did not practice for the second straight day

The Chiefs’ practice report didn’t change Friday from the previous day.

The Chiefs announced that cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (concussion) and wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), Mecole Hardman (pelvis) and Kadarius Toney (ankle, hamstring) would not practice, marking a second straight day of missed on-field work.

Sneed, Smith-Schuster, Hardman and Toney are less than a week from suffering their respective injuries in the AFC Championship Game. And the Chiefs don’t need to feel rushed to get any of them on the practice field with a little more than a week to go from playing the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Sneed remains in the concussion protocol, but he was observed Thursday going through stretching and conditioning during the portion of practice open to the media. While the Chiefs officially designating Sneed as not practicing, his presence on the football field on Thursday is a positive sign he is making progress in the NFL’s five-step protocol.

Smith-Schuster and Toney were observed Thursday watching practice from the sidelines, and their availability for the Super Bowl will become clear next week when the Chiefs practice in Arizona.

The Chiefs aren’t optimistic that Hardman will be available for the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs later in the afternoon released a projected game designation if the Super Bowl was played Sunday and designated Hardman as doubtful, while Sneed, Smith-Schuster and Toney were estimated as questionable.

Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr. (shoulder), who was limited Thursday, is expected to work in some capacity Friday. The Chiefs later designated Gay as limited on Friday and projected him as questionable.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle), running back Isiah Pacheco (wrist), right guard Trey Smith (ankle), running back Jerick McKinnon (ankles) and wide receiver Justin Watson (illness) practiced fully Friday.

The Chiefs practice Saturday with no media availability before flying Sunday to Phoenix, where they will undergo another week of preparations, including practices, before squaring off against the Eagles on Feb. 12.
