9-Year-Old Victory Brinker Earns Everyone's Golden Buzzer and Makes 'AGT' History
America's Got Talent is back for season 16 and already inspiring millions. Just like in years past, the NBC series is packed with incredible acts ranging in skills and talents. But even though there are so many amazing competitors, only a select few will receive the golden buzzer from host Terry Crews and judges Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Sofía Vergara and Heidi Klum.
Wondering what the AGT golden buzzer is? Basically, it serves as an automatic pass into the live shows, which air later this summer. Though the golden buzzer was originally introduced in season 9 to break any ties that emerged (in other words, the act would be put through no matter how the other judges voted), it eventually became a way to award the top acts and allow them to skip the judge cuts portion of the competition.
